Winter makes you do crazy things

Friday, June 14, 2013

I think I have finally been bereft of my mind, so I'm going to start this post with a very simple line: 'oh shit'.

It was Flip's birthday last week. And no, I'm not using profanities because I forgot. I treated him to lovely dinner at the place we had our first date, Jungle, where we got pretty drunk on sake and he had delicious sushi and I made the mistake of having Japanese food - other than sushi. But look at me going of on a tangent again. I'm saying oh shit, because we decided to go camping for Flip's birthday, in winter, in the middle of a cold front.

Say this with me, in the voice of Sweet Brown: "We're going to have to start some faaaaaires!"

At least its in a warm place, Warmbaths, which still gets cold at evening. But it has an under roof hot swimming pool, which should be fun, and it would give us a reason to drink a looot of Old Brown Sherry.

In other news, I want to send out a warning to anybody with small dogs, Jack Russells in particular. I took Jethro to the vet yesterday, thinking he has cat flu. I was in tatters to say the least, because as you might know, dog's don't survive cat flu. At least my dramatic self was proved wrong and it was only pancreatitis - still a very serious disease, mind you. It is brought on by feeding your pets table scraps, fatty food, bones and so forth.

In other, other news, my brother is a contestant on Noot vir Noot, they are recording today, probably as we speak. So hold thumbs for him. I hope he wins a crapload of money!

HAVE A HAPPY LONG WEEKEND!

Conversations with Flip

Thursday, March 7, 2013

I love reading the really funny things Megan, over at Across the Pond, and her English now-husband come up with in conversation. It made me a little more attentive to things Flip say, because he always says the weirdest and funniest things. These are some of the very strange things that comes to mind.

{Our house is on a corner with two stop signs. One Sunday night I got a bit irate}
M: It's late, why are there so many cars driving past our house at this time?
F: They all went to buy McFlurries, my love.

{While blowdrying my hair, my ring gets tangled in my hair, so I take it off. Enter Mila}
M: Baby, we nearly had to schedule an emergency operation with Mila's vet appointment this afternoon. She almost swallowed my ring.
F: Well, then you would have had to carry Mila on your finger all day.

{While preparing dinner}
M: The potatoes are ready, will you please mash them?
F: Mash. Mash. Mash. Mash. You can just call me Lionel Mashi.

{While on the topic of food, one evening I made boerewors}
F: Look what I found in my can of sweet corn.
{Boerewors pieces sticking out of can}

{On Facebook}
My status: You know it's time for a haircut when your hair gets too heavy and it hurts when you put it in a bun.
Flip comments: Don't you have food? Why are you putting your hair in a bun?

Log jam..I wish I was this cool

Lately, I have been seeing these little critters on Nickelodeon quite often.
At first I thought, geeze, what crazy hell of a cartoon is this?
And why would anyone watch this? Nevermind children!
But it has a rhythm.
And as my brain would have it, the brain that is solely fed by music, the little wolf’s singing and their awkward rhythm got stuck in my head.
I googled it today, and saw there was a lot more videos on youtube that have not shown on Nickelodeon yet.
Yes, I am addicted to Nickelodeon.
I thought this video was so funny that I actually cried laughing.
Enjoy.

Oh, and just a little housekeeping and a small apology for all the changing in fonts.
I was playing around with fonts I would like to use here.
And I finally decided on Century Gothic.
Problem is, Century Gothic is not a default font for blogger, and I trie.d adding it to my CSS code, but it didn’t work either.
So, I started changing some of the posts to the new font, but geeze, way to drive yourself crazy as duck!
From here on, all my posts will be in this font.
