About Me

Who Am I
>>>
Megan here. I was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, studied BA Communications at Potchefstroom and after completing my studies, moved to Johannesburg, where I work as a journalist (for a technical magazine) and found the love of my life.

My surname is Wait, which a lot of people find the most amusing and amazing thing (like the other day when a Pick 'n Pay cashier started laughing robustly after reading my name from my cheque card.) To me, it's just another surname. Hence the name WaitingforMeg. It's a play on my name see.

I have been in Johannesburg for a couple of years now, and even though in my school and varsity years I swore to never live in this city, I fell in love in, and with, this place over the past two years. I don't think that I would move to any other city in South Africa, unless the love has to move someday, as a result of work. I am currently also figuring out what a  girl is supposed to do in this life.

I would love to move overseas for two years and just experience another country. I would also love to own exotic animals, such as a pot-belly pig, a snake, a bearded dragon and a cow. Cows are exotic.

My likes are Thursday night quizzes at local pubs with my friends; any sort of water mass in the city, ie Emmarentia dam and Gillooly's farm; dogs, any type of dog except things that you can step on by mistake because they are so small and dogs who shake all the time (like those timid little Doberman pincher minis); candyfloss fragranced perfume; coffee; Top Gear - the Tv Show (I have the world's only crush on James May); popcorn; pizza; greek salad; swimming and waking up every day.

I can't do maths.

Why did I start a blog
>>>
I started blogging as a means to escape from writing technical things everyday. I am passionate about writing, and always had the idea that I would like to write. Somehow life dealt me the right cards and instead of studying law, I studied communications, and got my degree. I digress. I just love writing, and I think this is my way of getting myself out there. Besides, it's fun!

The theme of my blog is based on the Feist song, Mushaboom.
In the song, a young girl, let's call her Megan, sings about things she would like to have, things she is yearning for. She was stuck in an apartment for a few years, hence the name of the blog.

Second Floor Living without a yard.

But this girl has something going for her. She's got man to stick it out.
This man is my Flip. The love of my life.

And together, we will collect the kodak moments, one by one, which I document here.

Further, Flip and I have just bought a house together and we are building it, bit by bit, until we have our dream house, with our two pups Jehtro and Mila!

So you like what you see and want your blog/etsy shop/facebook page,
anything you have to feature in my sidebar?

Well here are the stats
* a humble 278 GFC friends, and counting
*about 7 000 pageviews a month (scouts honour)
*all my posts are also featured on SFL's facebook page and twitter

At this time in life I am only really interested in swapping.
Which means that if I feature your ad on my blog, you would feature my ad on your blog.
This doesn't count for etsy shops or in the case of giveaways.
*Please note that I would only accept swaps with people whose blog are like-minded to mine*

Hii! I'm so glad you subscribed to me so we could "meet." I love to meet people from other countries. I used to live in South Africa when I was really little! Cape town! And guess what? I just read your post on riding an elephant... riding an elephant when I was 2 and a half is my very first memory! I wear an elephant necklace everyday, and I think its because I am subconsciously attached to it. :) Your blog is great...makes me wish I could goo back and visit someday soon.
