On coffee, life and other things

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Today has been 19, nineteen, days since I gave up coffee. To be truthful, I had three cups in this time, but two of the days were Sundays and the other just a rough day where coffee felt like the only cure.

You wouldn't believe what a change this has made, I'm finding it really hard to comprehend, but by just cutting out coffee and its benevolent friends - milk & sugar - I have noticed so many changes in my moods and my body. I have lost weight easier than some people lose their car keys. I am no longer lethargic and not once did I get a headache - not even those withdrawal headaches.

The funny thing is, that when I still had coffee I had to have at least two cups a day, one in the morning to get me started, and one in the afternoon to get rid of the coffee headache. But since switching to warm water and lemon juice, I'm one happy badger.

It's really amazing to see what happens when you just cut milk - or dairy products, including cheese, cream,  yoghurt and sugar {which would include anything with a high sugar content, including alcohol}. Are you willing to try out this challenge? Please let me know how it goes!

In other news, there is not much other news to share - thus the blog being so quiet lately. I did, however, think I would share some of my favourite South African blogs, so here goes:

I am thinking about giving up coffee and this post has got me motivated. I just need to pick a week where I'm not working 14 hours days....
Thanks for the links to the SA blogs, always looking for more blogs to read :)

Thanks for the mention! :)
Well done on the no coffee/sugar/dairy/alcohol... that is very impressive.
I've made the switch to decaf coffee at least so now I don't crave a coffee every day. But I had the worst headaches in the beginning!
